MERT Enterprises, Inc. has openings for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Greater Bangor, for full-time or part-time Community-Based positions providing you with a fixed-shift each week. Typical duties include providing support to one consumer with issues like toileting, bathing, dressing, assisting with preparing and serving meals, administering medications, household cleaning, money use, grocery shopping and driving the consumer to and from their job or day program, taking them to doctor appointments and recreational and social activities in the Bangor area and supporting them with their participation in Special Olympics practices and events locally and statewide.

Applicants need to have a flexible work schedule before the beginning of their shift and after the usual ending of their shift. Personal vehicle use is required as-needed to transport our consumers – your vehicle must seat four people comfortably, have working seat belts, your name listed on the current auto liability insurance and vehicle should be available 24/7. Additionally, applicant should have good, legible handwriting skills to document consumer information, keep accurate and detailed staff notes and duty logs, monthly reports, incident reports and seizure reports. Strong reading comprehension skills are needed to understand medical information and consumer's personal information being passed-on regularly, and to promote staff development. Verbal communication is essential to convey information to other team members, supervisors and visitors or family members of the consumer.

Our Entry Level Pay Rate with no prior experience is $11.10/hr. Applicants already having prior DSP work experience and CRMA, DSP, First Aid/CPR or Safety-Care certifications may have their starting pay rate adjusted upward based on related work experience and current certifications.
