Job Description

Schlotterbeck & Foss is New England's oldest food-service manufacturer of condiments, sauces, dressings, salsas and ice-cream-topping ingredients. Today, we still produce in small batches, with the care of handcrafting to bring out the most vibrant flavors. From the horse and buggy days to the present, we have earned and maintained a reputation for quality, local products and great service.


S&F is currently hiring for Cook and Cook Helpers to prepare large volume batches of food product to be packaged by filler line operators.  The Cook Helper position assists cooks with weighing, measuring and handling of ingredients.

The following is a sample of duties:

The cook is responsible for preparing product in large volumes and maintain integrity of product until delivered to line operators for packaging.

Cook Helper responsibilities include assisting with preparation of product in large volumes, while maintaining integrity of ingredients and product until delivered to Cook/Mixer.

Both positions are responsible for meticulously following recipe batch cards to ensure finished product meets specifications and quality. Detecting any variations in materials and finished product according to product specifications and completing documentation and ensuring it is detailed, thorough, accurate and legible.

The work schedule is Monday through Friday and start times may begin as early as 5:00 AM and finish times as late as 6:00 PM (or until finish). At times, it may be required that work be outside of the normal work schedule, including weekends.

 

The following are required of all S&F production employees:

  • Follow all required work safe practices. This would include lockout-tag out requirements and wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
  • Reporting any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Be able to have effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, while following company, safety, quality policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Experience working in food or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong attention to detail, proficiency with arithmetic, and utilization of a calculator, as well as the capacity to handle multiple facets of production equipment without losing control of any of the functions are a required.
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (10 hours or more).
  • Frequent physical activity requires walking, climbing, bending, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting and stooping. Must be able to lift 65 lbs.
