• Responsible and accountable for all Planning Yard business and personnel within BIW West Coast Operations area, including the San Diego waterfront and SPAWAR contingent, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Everett, WA and Yokosuka, Japan
• Responsible for providing excellent Life Cycle Services to ships of the Pacific Fleet and NAVSEA customers for all BIW Program tasking
• Maintain a solid rapport with the PMR SEA 21 customer; ensure Fleet issues and concerns are fed back to the Planning Yard and communicated to all the other Homeports to improve on lessons learned across all DDGs
• Manage the San Diego Office guided by the vision of providing "Best Value Naval Surface Combatant program management, engineering, design, shipbuilding and fleet support"
• Directly pursue, and provide support to, new business development opportunities in the Navy West Coast Homeports, including promoting the use of BIW after market sales
• Maintain business and professional network contacts with local contractors and the Navy that build strong business relationships, promote business growth and support BIW Life Cycle strategy for the Navy's major Surface Ship Programs
• Provide support for the successful introduction of all BIW New Construction Ships homeported in the Pacific Fleet
• Responsible for the management, operations, security and personnel at BIW San Diego Operations in accordance with BIW Standard Operating Procedures
• Keep BIW's Surface Ship Support Management Office (PMO) and other BIW Homeport Office personnel appraised of key events and issues through regular communications including, but not limited to, bi-weekly highlights
• Maintain regular communications with the Planning Yard Program Manager to keep appraised of daily issues on the waterfront in San Diego and other Homeports

Required/Preferred Education/Training

Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience required

Required/Preferred Experience

• Minimum of 10 years working in positions of progressive responsibility in supervision and management required
• Demonstrated management, project coordination and leadership skills required. Strong written, oral communications and organizational skills required
• Proficiency with computers specifically Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access) required
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Navy Fleet, Program and Systems Command Headquarters Organizations, procedures and processes required
• General knowledge and understanding of the navy's Major Surface Ship Programs and Contracting processes and procedures required
• Ability and willingness to work in, and promote a true teaming environment
