Opened in 1956, Northern Light Maine Coast Hospitals comprehensive healthcare facility provides emergency, primary and specialty care acute inpatient, diagnostic, and surgical services for Hancock and Western Washington counties.
Description: Directs and provides professional nursing care while meeting patients' psychosocial, physical and general aspect of care needs. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines, families and/or caregivers. Responsible for initial assessment, reassessment and documentation of assigned patients. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs of patients. Communicates with practitioners regarding changes in patient's status, symptoms and results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and appropriately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment. Assumes responsibility for supervising and assessing other nursing personnel. Responsible for safety and flow of the department assuring that staff comply with policies, procedures and JCAHO regulations. Communicates with all disciplines regarding patient status, flow, and continuation of patient care.
Licensure, Education, Experience and Skill Requirements: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program, BSN preferred. Active Maine RN license or eligibility to obtain required. Active BLS certification required.Three years nursing experience required. Oncology and/or Infusion certification required.
