OVERVIEW

The Office of Information Technology’s Application team is seeking a Computer Programmer to join us in providing support for several Oracle database applications. This individual will be joining a team of developers who support the mission of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

This position offers the opportunity to create and develop programming assignments using MS Access, SQL, PL/SQL, PL SQL Developer, and JIRA. Applications include the DEP’s Environmental Geographic Application Database, known as EGAD.   

 

ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:                                                                                                              

Computer Programmers are responsible for the development and maintenance of computer applications.  Responsibilities focus on designing software solutions, managing data stores, and maintaining existing systems. Work is performed under general supervision.

WHAT WILL YOU DO? 

You will be a primary support person for the Environmental Geographic Application Database and other Oracle-based systems.  Most of these systems leverage MS Access as the application’s front end.  You will be working collaboratively with the team to develop solid solutions to IT requests coming from the DEP.  You will also be supporting the DEP’s mission to protect the environment for all of Maine’s citizens, visitors and subsequent generations!

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify, you must have an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent subject area - OR - a Bachelor’s Degree which includes a minimum of 18 credits in computer programming, information systems technology, statistics, or advanced mathematics - OR -one (1) year of application system development experience.

SALARY:   Job Class Code:  0864                    Pay Grade: 21 - $41,454.40 – $55,910.40/annually*

*Includes a 15% recruitment and retention salary and eligibility for a training bonus.

 

BENEFITS:

The value of State’s share of Employee’s Retirement:  15.37% of salary for BU positions.  The value of State-paid Dental Insurance:  $13.13 biweekly.  The value* of State-paid Health Insurance: 

  • Level 1:  100% State Contribution (employee pays nothing):  $444.68 biweekly
  • Level 2:    95% State Contribution (employee pays 5%):  $422.45 biweekly
  • Level 3:    90% State Contribution (employee pays 10%):  $400.21 biweekly
  • Level 4:      85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%):  $377.98 biweekly 

*The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program.
